Having unwittingly saved a child in Rukongai from a Hollow, Marechiyo Omaeda, trying to impress the boy, identifies himself as the 2nd Division's captain. When Omaeda returns to Seireitei, but the boy follows him and Omaeda is forced to pretend to be a captain. He later fights the Hollow once again.
